Spring is coming . . .

I thought that if I started buying clothes for spring it would entice the sun out of its hibernation. I am desperately in  need for some vitamin D as an antidote to the current winter blues I appear to be suffering. So I went to my all time favourite shop in search of something light and fluffy and I certainly found it.

This blouse cost me £20 but I think it is 100% worth it! From Zara

What I Wore...

Shoes: Aldo, Jumper/Scarf/Dress: Vintage, Bracelet: Accessorize

I haven't posted for a while after a fairly manic weekend so sorry about that. I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day. My friends grabbed a Chinese take away and ate Ben and Jerry's all night. Personally I think it that was a great idea - it sounds like great fun.

Belt: Dorothy Perkins

This is the first outfit I have posted so far so I wanted to just show you a little bit of me. I love all the colours together in this outfit. The  saddle scarf is so cute and has loads of different types of saddle all over it. I bought it from a vintage fair I went to a couple of weekends ago. The cardigan is actually stolen from my mums' wardrobe. I love chunky cardigans and this is definitely my favourite! The whole outfit is finished off by my new shoes because I am completely obsessed with them and have hardly taken them off since I got them.

Half Term is coming soon so all the hard work can take a little break. I'm hoping to post more regularly and find more interesting places to take photos. Fingers crossed that the sun will shine! Hope you are having a great evening :)

Much Love,

Guilty Pleasure

I admit it! I have far too many scarves but I couldn't resist these beauties when walking around a vintage fair last weekend. They are so detailed and the colours are stunning. You will definitely be seeing more of them in future posts.

This is the console table in my hall it is so rustic and gorgeous.

Spot the compulsory shiny thing!

Pink!

I've had a go at baking this evening after finding a really cute looking recipe on the amazing blog Shes got a Passion for Fashion. My cupcakes are very, very pink and not as beautiful but I think they are quite cute. The scarf in the background is vintage and the cameo is off a necklace from Topshop (I had to include something shiny!). I also fell in love with the rose water bottle - it was adorable and it fit in with the very pink theme. Well this picture sums up this evening's fun :)

Pretty in pink but I do love the vintage cameo.

Until next time,
Much love,

Fallen from Heaven

I have committed the terrible crime of falling head over heels in love with the most beautiful shoes ever made. They were very expensive at £45 and my bank balance is now suffering because of it so I believe I may have to search car boot sales and vintage fairs if I would like to buy more clothes for a couple of months. I can't wait to wear these everywhere. I have a feeling they may become my spring/summer staple until it is finally warm enough to get the sandals out.

Aren't they beautiful? Shoes from Aldo. (Photo taken by my little sister).

I think shopping centres were definitely invented to tease those with a love for clothes as main high street stores are often too expensive for those of us without the privilege of unlimited clothes funds. (One can dream I guess!)

Much Love,

New Beginnings

Hey my name is Becky and this is my new blog Treasures that Shine. I started this after being inspired by a handful of fashion blogs that I have been following for about a year and have finally decided to try creating one myself. I am hoping to share some of my outfits and my thrifting finds on here as well as the many shiny things that I adore and can not live without. I will give you an insight into the crazy whirlwind that is my wardrobe and hopefully be able to make some fashion magic.

I am hoping to post fairly regularly - fingers crossed until I hit exams so I am sorry if I can't but I am really, really looking forward to the summer where I will have plenty of free time and the weather will hopefully warm up. However right now it feels like it never will.

Summer will also bring the start of a new textiles course - its so exciting! I love sewing and making clothes as well as adapting old ones. Its just so easy and allows you to be creative in a different way. I look at magazines and other blogs as well as people on the streets for inspiration and I particularly like the 40s vintage look with a modern twist as well as 1920s art deco. I particularly loved a revival of an old ITV series that was recently on by the BBC, called Upstairs, Downstairs which was full of beautiful sets and costumes.

The 2010 cast of the BBC drama Upstairs, Downstairs.
I hope to post more soon but until then I shall leave you with an image of my most favourite shiny object in the world. A Swarovski bracelet I was given for my 16th birthday by a very dear friend.

To me this truly is a treasure that shines.

I'll try and post again soon,

Much Love,
Becky
